ICC World Cup 2019: Teams with Most Individual 150-Plus Scores in ODI Cricket
As they say, cricket is the game of ‘glorious uncertainties’. Pragmatically, it has proved to be so, quite often than not. Moreover, the limited-overs battle has been quite riveting, which has witnessed plenty of freedom for the distinct teams at the top-flight cricket.
With field restriction telling on the bowlers, the conditions have further favoured batsmen in the white-ball format.
Furthermore, 300-plus has become a norm for teams which eventually saw individuals racking up 150-plus runs to help their respective teams.
Also, World No.1 ICC’s ODI team England has shown guts to produce outstanding results. In between, the explosive hitters have had taken centre stage — to entertain their fans following their whirlwind knocks.
While hammering bowlers at will, the sensational hitters have set the stage on fire.
Let’s have a look at the teams with most individual 150-plus scores in the ODI set-up:
India tops the charts with 28 individual 150s in ODI cricket:
Top-order batsman from India – Rohit Sharma is topping the charts with seven 150-plus knocks in ODI cricket.
The right-handed explosive Rohit has three double tons under his belt.
Legendary Sachin Tendulkar follows the prolific run-getter with five 150-plus scores.
However, Indian skipper Virat Kohli is third on the list with four 150-plus ODI totals. He is also closing in on to most ODI hundreds (49) record by Tendulkar.
Besides, Gautam Gambhir alongside, Virender Sehwag and Sourav Ganguly managed to go past the tally of 150-plus total twice during their respective careers.
Australian batsmen scored 20 individual 150s in ODI Cricket:
The explosive opener David Warner from Australia tops the charts with five 150-plus totals in the 50-over format. He is followed by concurrent Australian skipper Aaron Finch, who has achieved the total on two occasions during his ODI career.
Also, veteran Adam Gilchrist and his former teammate Matthew Hayden have slammed 150-plus run individual total twice apart from celebrated allrounders in the form of Shane Watson and Andrew Symonds.
Meanwhile, Ricky Ponting, under whom Australia won the World Cup in 2003 and 2007 respectively, managed to cross past the 150-run barrier during 2006 against South Africa at Johannesburg owing to a high-scoring clash.
Windies batsmen went on to score 18 individual 150s in ODI Cricket:
The senior-most cricketer and swashbuckling opener Chris Gayle has hammered bowlers with his effortless stroke-making. Thus, the southpaw went on to slam 150-plus scores on five occasions.
Interestingly, Gayle has a double ton to his name which came during the 2015 World Cup against Zimbabwe. The aggressive stroke-maker has achieved his career-best of 215 runs.
Besides, Gayle, veteran Brian Lara has managed to go past 150-plus mark on three times to maintain the second spot apart from legendary Vivian Richards.
