The game between India and Afghanistan is one of the closest affairs in the world cups when it comes to a clash between a top-ranked and a bottom-ranked team. The fans were on the edge of the seats right throughout the game, as it was a low-scoring thriller. Meanwhile, the unorthodox all-rounder Kedar Jadhav lauds the bowlers for the special victory.

Just when things looked bleak for the Indian team in the end overs, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Rashid before quicks Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami combined to derail Afghanistan’s chase. Bumrah, in particular, was exceptional in the crease.

We knew we required only one wicket – Kedar Jadhav

Speaking of the victory, the flamboyant Kedar Jadhav quoted that they never dropped their shoulders in the game, as they have complete trust on their bowlers. Further, he showered words of praise on Jasprit Bumrah for delivering the goods when it matters the most.

“Obviously, we had belief in our death specialist bowlers. Bumrah is the number one bowler. We knew we had to get just one wicket to break that partnership, and the next batsman would be finding it difficult to score those runs in that scenario. “So we knew just one wicket away from that crucial win,” Kedar Jadhav quoted.

On his batting:

Kedar Jadhav was the second highest run-scorer for the Indian team during the innings against Afghanistan. Despite playing it slowly, Kedar Jadhav’s knock is highly appreciable, as it would have been worse for the Indian team.

Speaking of the same, the flamboyant batsman quoted that the pitch was slow and the spinners of Afghanistan have been brilliant to play. Further, he added that the team decided to make it up for those runs with their fielding.

“The wicket was slow and they were playing with four spinners. The ball was turning…it was difficult to play shots,” he said. When the wicket is such, you need to analyse what sort of score we are looking at. Our actual plan was to look for around 250, we were targeting 250-260 but fell short by 20-30 runs.

“So going into the fielding, we knew that we have to make up those 15, 20 runs in fielding. Obviously, credit to the bowlers that they defended this small total.”

All in all, it was a brilliant win for the Indian team against Afghanistan. Now, they need a couple of more victories to qualify for the semifinals in the tournament.
