ToggleThe much-awaited ICC World Cup 2023 schedule was announced on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 by the governing body which sees hosts India kicking off their World Cup campaign against Australia at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on 8th October.
They won two World Cups in England in 1983 and the Sub-Continent in 2011. India was eliminated from the semifinals in the first two tournaments, in 2015 and 2019.
The 2023 men’s ODI World Cup will start on October 5 in Ahmedabad, with games taking place at 10 different locations, and conclude on November 19 with the championship match, which will also be played in Ahmedabad. On November 15 and 16, the semi-finals will take place in Mumbai and Kolkata.
Over the course of 46 days, the 45 league games and the three playoff games will be played in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune. There will be reserve days for the final, both semi-finals, and both.
The tournament’s six-day league games will get underway at 10:30 IST. All other contests are day-night affairs with kickoff at 2:00 IST.
India To Play At Nine Of The Ten Venues In League Stage; Semi-Final Clash In Mumbai Unless They Face Pakistan
India will open its campaign on October 8th in Chennai. India then plays Afghanistan in Delhi on October 11; Pakistan in Ahmedabad on October 15; Bangladesh in Pune on October 19; New Zealand in Dharamsala on October 22; England in Lucknow on October 29; a qualifier in Mumbai on November 2; South Africa in Kolkata on November 5; and another qualifier in Bengaluru on November 11, which is the penultimate day of the league stage.
During the league phase, India traveled with most of the ten teams, playing in nine of the ten locations.
