Kapil Dev

Former Indian captain Kapil Dev was the first Indian captain under whom India won their first Cricket World Cup in the 1983 edition after beating the two-time World Cup-winners West Indies in the final at Lord’s (London). Kapil was one of the greatest all-rounders who finished his international career as the most international wicket-taker (687 wickets) as well as Test (434 wickets) and ODI wicket-taker (253 wickets).
However, Kapil also faced some allegations about his involvement in the match-fixing, which he has always denied. Once when he was asked on the national tv about the allegations of his involvement in the match-fixing, Kapil couldn’t control himself and emotionally said, “I will commit suicide rather than take a bribe. Who wants money. Take all my money. I come from a family where pride is more important than anything.”
