- Substitute fielder receives Man of the Match
One of South Africa’s legendary cricketers Jonty Rhodes had once received Man of the Match award as just a substitute fielder.
It is said that, during the secondary level (school level), Jonty Rhodes went as a substitute fielder (not included in the playing XI) and took 7 catches in that match. Due to that incredible performance, Jonty Rhodes received man of the match award.
Apart from that incident, there is no such incident till the date where a 12th man was selected for man of the match award.
