Ahead of the Twenty20 fixture in Ranchi on Saturday, the death bowling specialist Jasprit Bumrah is thrilled after witnessing the return of experienced campaigner Ashish Nehra for the upcoming three-match Twenty20 series against Australia.

“It’s really good to have him [Ashish Nehra] in the side. The team’s atmosphere becomes good when he comes to the side. It feels great to have him back in the side,” Bumrah was quoted as saying by PTI.

The 23-year-old Bumrah believes the return of the left-arm bowler Nehra would help his cause to learn a lot, in bowling during their partnership against Steven Smith-led Kangaroos.

“It’s lot of fun. He has loads of experience to share. He’s very helpful for youngsters like me,” Bumrah maintained.

Pertinently, the 38-year-old Nehra impressed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) national selectors – the committee is headed by MSK Prasad, after succeeding Sandeep Patil in September 2016.

“Fitness plays a pivotal role and the onus lies on the cricketer to stay in the pink of health and extend his career,” Bumrah added.

The left-arm paceman Nehra previously featured against England in Bengaluru in February, this year, who added he is looking forward to relying on his strength while taking on a game after another. The Ahmedabad-born Bumrah revealed the experience has an important role to play after hosts India clinched the One-Day international series 4-1.

“He’s a very experienced player. I’ve played some cricket with him. I’ve played in World Twenty20 with him,” Bumrah further added.

Bumrah, who wants to stay away from the controversy, revealed it is essential to focus on the fitness which further helps a professional to give his best for representing the national side.

“It’s the responsibility of the player to look after his diet and training. Because of the amount of cricket we have been playing nowadays, everybody has to be fit,” Bumrah asserted.

The wily customer Bumrah had already left a significant impact in the limited-overs cricket owing to his bowling while making things tougher for the batsmen.

While discussing his death bowling, Bumrah believes the hard work has paid the rich, dividends, and he is aiming to continue while giving his hundred percent both with the ball and in the field while fielding for his side.

The improvement of Bumrah in the fielding was very much visible when he completed a stunner of Steven Smith on the bowling of Hardik Pandya during the recently concluded ODI series, as he was equally good in the ground fielding – to earn the applause from the seniors.

“It’s not only fast bowlers who need to put in extra effort. Yes they need to do extra sometimes, but in general if you are not fit you won’t be able to survive,” Burmah concluded.

The unorthodox bowler Bumrah made his international debut in Sydney in January 2016, as he has featured in 25 matches each across limited-overs’ format. Bumrah has bagged 80 wickets in ODIs and T20Is respectively which further reads his impressive bowling average of 18.38, in the shortest version of the gentleman’s game.
