IND VS AUS 2023: Indian team is leading the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023, by 2-0 against Australia, Men in Blue will play their next test match against the Baggy Greens on 1st March at Indore. Former BCCI chief, Sourav Ganguly felt that it is difficult to avoid the ongoing criticism of KL Rahul’s poor form, especially if he doesn’t score runs in India.

Ganguly has supported the ongoing criticism of KL Rahul’s poor form in test matches-
“When you don’t score runs in India, obviously you will get flak. KL Rahul hasn’t been the only one. There have been players in the past also,” said the former Indian cricketer.
Team India’s opener KL Rahul is struggling with his form and has not managed to go past 23 run mark in the last 10 test match innings. In a recent announcement made by BCCI, Rahul’s name was missing the Vice-Captain (VC) tag on the front of his name in the squad list.
“There’s so much focus and attention with lot of pressure on players. The team management thinks he is an important player for the team. At the end of the day, what coach and captain thinks is important,” said former Indian opener.
It will be interesting to see the combination with which team India will go for the rest of the two matches in the series. Former cricketers and media have together raised their voices against Rahul’s unimpressive performances for the last few years, especially in the longer format of the game.
Indian veteran acknowledged Rahul’s performance in the past but said as said expectations are high because the top-order batter is playing for India.

“When you fail for a while, obviously there will be criticism. I am sure Rahul has ability and I am sure as and when he gets more opportunities, he will have to find ways to score,” said Ganguly.
The Karnataka cricketer debuted for India in the longer format of the game in the 2014-15 Australia tour, he scored seven tons for team India in test matches with his last century in 2021 against South Africa in Centurion. While Men in Blue needs to win at least three test matches of four test match series in the ongoing BGT to claim the World Test Championship (WTC) final berth
