Former West Indies pacer thinks that proper management can save Indian speedster’s career-

Jasprit Bumrah has got an extra sharpness about his bowling when he is at his best, and you want to procure that. He is a match-winner and a difference-maker,”

Part of India’s success will largely depend on if he is fit or not. So you have to allow him to miss certain games and tours in order to have longevity,” said Bishop.

Ex- cricketer cum Commentor Bishop, who played 43 Tests and 84 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for the West Indies, was the fearsome pacer in the 90s era for batters all over the world. He reached 100 dismissals in 21 test matches but his career was cut short due to injuries.

No bowler can play all the formats continuously. I have two formats and I struggled with my back. Sadly for fans, you have to pick and choose what are the important contests for each player. You’ve got Jasprit Bumrah, Jofra Archer and Mitchell Starc,” he further added.

Starc is probably a good example, he takes time off and takes tournaments off. He is given rest so that he maintains his speed. These bowlers if they don’t have that cutting-edge speed that they had at their prime spells, they just become another of the bowlers of the trend,” concluded the right-handed bowler.

The 29-year-old last played for India in the second and third T20I against Australia in September 2022, before he was ruled out of the preceding series against South Africa with a back injury and has been out of the squad since then. The right-arm pacer is currently recovering at National Cricket Academy ( NCA) in Bengaluru, he is doing rehabilitation to fully recover for the upcoming cricket season.

Bumrah is expected to return to competitive cricket with IPL, he is likely to feature for Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2023, meanwhile, BCCI announced that it will keep a tab on fast bowlers to not get an excessive amount of wear and tear while playing in the IPL.MI will start their campaign against RCB on 2nd April at Banglore.
