Former Australian skipper Aaron Finch hailed Indian speedster Mohammed Siraj for improving his game in International cricket and becoming a force to reckon with against the high-quality team in the big games. The 29-year-old picked up six wickets against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final to help India secure a dominating win in a continental event.
The Right-arm pacer was on a rampage in Colombo picking up his maiden five-wicket haul in the ODI Cricket. The World No.1 ODI bowler breached the defences of Sri Lanka batters and turned the match on his own picking four wickets in the single over at the R Premadasa stadium. The right-arm pacer could be crucial for the team’s success in the marquee event in India.
During a discussion with Star Sports, Aaron Finch feels that new ball bowlers, who have the ability to swing the ball at the start of the innings are always dangerous recalling his battle with the Indian speedster Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and backs Trent Boult, Mitchell Starc, Kagiso Rabada, and Mohammed Siraj to come good in the World Cup.
“Well, the reason I retired – Bhuvi. He’s the one that I always tried to avoid, but neither of us is playing now, so that’s I think new ball bowlers who can swing, are a danger to everyone. I think Trent Boult, Mitchell Starc, and Rabada, these guys, especially Siraj, he’s as good as anyone in the world at the moment,” Aaron Finch said.
Mohammed Siraj has been India’s most consistent bowler in recent times. The pacer rise in International Cricket has been on the rise since 2022 in all three formats of the game and would look to continue his fine form heading into the ODI World Cup.
Faf du Plessis Backs Mohammed Siraj To Have A Good ODI World Cup In India
Former South African skipper Faf du Plessis backs his IPL teammate Mohammed Siraj to play well in the upcoming ODI World Cup in India, as he has shown the ability to move the ball in both ways and also agreed that New Zealand pacer Trent Bout can have a very good tournament for the Kiwis in the marquee event.
“Yeah, I’m similar to Finch. I think it depends on the wickets. You know, if the wicket has got something in it, someone like Siraj who just nibbles the ball a little bit both ways, and he’s trying the off stump the whole time. Boult, those kinds of guys are going to be extremely successful,” Faf du Plessis said.
Trent Boult was an important member of New Zealand’s squad in the 2015 and 2019 ODI World Cup as he bowled brilliantly well for the Blackcaps with the new ball. He is the highest wicket-taker for New Zealand in the World Cup with 39 wickets in 19 games so far and would look to prove his worth in the Indian conditions.
