IND Vs NZ 2017: Cricketers and Fans Take To Twitter To Wish Ashish Nehra All the Luck
Nov 1, 2017 at 6:04 PM
India and New Zealand will play in the first T20 of the three-match series at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in New Delhi at 7 PM IST. This match will be Ashish Nehra’s last match as he announced his retirement. Both the teams have met six times before this match and the Kiwi’s lead the head to head count 5-0. India won the ODI series 2-1 and will be looking forward to giving Nehra a perfect farewell.
Nehra made his international debut in 1999 in a Test match against Sri Lanka. However, he found most of the success in the 50 over format. The most significant highlight of his career has been his spell in the 2003 World Cup against England where he finished with the figures of 6 for 23. These are the best figures for an Indian fast bowler in a World Cup. He has only played 17 Tests in his career, last being in 2004. He has taken 44 wickets in his Test career. He has played 120 One Day Internationals picking up 157 wickets, as far his T20 career is concerned he has picked up 34 wickets in 26 T20 Internationals.
Injuries marred most of Nehra’s career. He recollects that he has gone 12 times under the knife and has screws and nuts in his entire body. His career lasted 18 years, but he couldn’t play as many international matches expected from a player who has had such a long career span.
All through his career, he has been a fan as well a colleague favourite. He has always earned praises from the players he has played with or against. On the eve of his final match, many cricketers took to Twitter to wish Nehra all the luck for the match and his life post-retirement.
Let’s have a look at some of the tweets on the Eve of Nehra’s farewell.
