India-Australia Rivalry At Par With Ashes: Brett Lee

Brett Lee opines that India and Australia rivalry in Test cricket is equal to what his country shares with England in Ashes. India and Australia are set to play four-match Test series in December this year as the cricket makes it’s way back amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Last year, when India toured Australia, the visitors lost the series by 1-2. Virat Kohli led-sided created history after winning their maiden Test series win in Australia. The series is marked as the greatest success under the captaincy of the current Indian captain.

The cricket lovers are looking forward to the cricket rivalry between the two later this year because of several reasons.

Firstly, after an extended period of the game, fans want to witness a fierce battle.

The other factor is that last year, Australia was labelled weak because Steve Smith and David Warner were missing in the squad but as they return, India will have a bigger challenge.

Brett Lee also marks India tour of Australia as important. He compared the competitiveness between India and Australia to Ashes, saying that it is the best competition to watch.

The tour is so important. Anytime that India gets the chance to tour Australia or vice versa. It always was Australia versus England in the Ashes. That was always the pinnacle. I do believe now that this (India vs Australia) is definitely at par. When Australia play India in a Test series, that’s definitely right up there with the best competition to watch and the best rivalry. There’s definitely no love lost, but the two nations appreciate the cricket which they play ” Brett Lee told in an exclusive interview from Sydney. 

India is slated to travel to Australia for a three T20I, 3 ODI and four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series.

The four Tests are scheduled to be played at The Gabba (Brisbane), Adelaide Oval (Adelaide), MCG (Melbourne) and SCG (Sydney).
