India Vs Sri Lanka 2019/20: Second T20I – India’s Predicted XI
On Tuesday (7th January), the hosts India and the visitors Sri Lanka will meet in the second T20I of the three-match series at Holkar Cricket Stadium (Indore).
The series is currently standing with 0-0 scoreline due to the no result in the series opener at Guwahati on last Sunday (5th January) night. Though the hosts decided to bowl first after winning the toss in that match, the match didn’t begin due to the rain interruption.
Here is the predicted XI for India for the upcoming Indore T20I.
In the absence of Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul has utilised the opportunities very well as the limited-overs opening batsman. He has started to perform consistently. Moreover, he has started to perform in back-to-back matches.
The left-handed opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has returned to the side after recovering from the leg injury. While he was battling to find his old form before his latest injury, he has to prove his real quality in this series. Though he is scoring runs, he is losing the set wickets in the crucial time of the matches, and his strike-rate is also dropping.
Virat Kohli (C)
Indian captain Virat Kohli is just one run away to become the leading run-scorer in T20I history. The right-handed batsman is in top form in every format. Also, his T20I record against Sri Lanka is ferocious.
If the newcomer Shreyas Iyer getting proper chances in batting, he is hardly disappointing the Indian cricket fans. At present, the youngster needs to showcase his consistency in the T20I format.
Rishabh Pant (wk)
After facing a lot of criticism, the young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant most recently played some crucial game-changing knocks in the limited-overs format. However, he still needs to prove his consistency in both batting and wicketkeeping roles.
The 26-year-old Shivam Dube has got recent opportunities in the absence of injured Hardik Pandya. Though he has initially impressed with his all-round performances, he has needed to perform consistently by improving his skills.
The 20-year-old off-spinner Washington Sundar has the ability to play versatile roles with the ball. While he is a top economical spinner, he needs to improve his wicket-taking ability. In addition, he is also a useful left-handed batsman.
The right-arm pacer Shardul Thakur ended the last year with his stunning match and series-winning aggressive batting performance against West Indies in the Cuttack ODI where he remained not out on 17 runs off just six balls during the thrilling chase. However, he has to impress the team with his bowling performance.
After missing out the game for four months due to the back injury, the right-arm pacer Jasprit Bumrah has returned to the cricket from the last T20I at Guwahati, but that match didn’t start due to rain. The Indian team and cricket fans are eagerly waiting to see the old merciless right-arm pacer Bumrah as soon as possible.
The right-arm fast bowler Navdeep Saini made his T20I and ODI debuts in brilliant ways. In most recent moments, he has impressed with his bowling performances both in domestic and international cricket. He needs to maintain this consistency.
The left-arm chinaman Kuldeep Yadav had a very tough time in the last year as he failed to maintain his earlier glorious performances. Though just a few days ago he took an ODI hat-trick against West Indies at Visakhapatnam, he is still not consistent in picking up the wickets.
