The veteran Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has lauded India as the strongest T20I side after they sealed the T20I series against Australia with one match still left to be played. He has credited the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the growth of the Indian players in the shortest format.
After losing the ODI series, India bounced back in the T20I series and gained the lead of 2-0. In the first T20I, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravindra Jadeja were the match-winners for the side while in the penultimate match in Sydney, Hardik Pandya’s fiery knock of 42 off 22 balls helped India to chase down a challenging 195-run target.
Impressed with India’s performance on Australian soil, Harbhajan Singh stated that India is favourite to lift the T20 World Cup next year which is even scheduled at home. He feels that the cash-rich league has helped the players to evolve their skills and better understand the game better.
“Yes most definitely, India is the favourite team for the World Cup. I feel that the kind of players we have got, they play in the IPL with stars and learn very quickly and adapt to the situation better than the others. That’s what makes them better players.
India Is Probably The Strongest T20I Side In World Cricket: Harbhajan Singh
As IPL is a star-studded league and the quality of cricket is higher than other leagues, the legendary spinner reckons it has helped the Indian players to learn how to soak in the pressure. He added that the win is a big positive for his countrymen.
Harbhajan Singh even labelled India as the strongest T20I side because they can win matches anywhere in the world.
“Under high pressure, they have done really well for their respective teams in the IPL. It’s a positive sign for team India. At the moment, India is probably the strongest T20I side in world cricket, no matter where they are playing,” Harbhajan Singh said told India Today.
Meanwhile, India and Australia will play the third T20I match on Tuesday (December 8) in Sydney.
