The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) have banned their players from visiting the casino during their ongoing tour of Australia.
According to the report of The Indian Express, BCCI expressed its concerns that visiting casinos may lead to players meeting potentially the wrong kind of people and the restriction was intimated to the team during their bus ride from Brisbane to Melbourne, the venue of the third ODI.
This decision was taken by the BCCI president Shashank Manohar and secretary Anurag Thakur.
The BCCI has adopted an image-building exercise following the IPL spot-fixing and betting controversy, and the Lodha committee recommended a number of reforms.
The recent revelation of Indian-origin South African cricketer Ghulam Bodi attempted to fix the national T20 league matches is also reminding that how cricketers are getting closer to the dishonest people.
Usually, the bookies and fixers try to meet with the cricketers when they away from the ground like at the team hotel, restaurants, pubs, social gatherings etc.
The Indian team is currently in the Australia tour to play 5 ODIs and 3 T20Is against Australia. Australia is currently leading 2-0 ahead of the third ODI in the 5-match ODI series.
