India T20I squad: Team India are currently gearing up for the upcoming Test and limited-overs series against England. While the Indian contingent has already reached England, the tour will kickstart next month.

The rescheduled fifth Test of last year’s series will start India’s tour of England. The five-match series last year had to be postponed after the fourth Test due to a Covid outbreak in the Indian camp. The Test will be played from July 1 in Birmingham.

It will be followed by three T20Is and as many ODIs. And while the Test squad was announced last month, the BCCI is yet to announce the T20I and the ODI squads for the England tour.

Recent reports, however, have more or less made things clear as far as India’s T20I squad is concerned. With only a two-day gap between the Test and the first T20I, the players in the Test team are very much unlikely to feature in the T20I series.

So before the selectors finally announce the India T20I squad, we are taking a look at the predicted squad:

Team India are reportedly set to play the T20I series against England with the same squad that will lock horns against Ireland this month. While the Test team is already in England, another Indian team is in Ireland for a two-match series this month.

Hardik Pandya has been named as the captain of the T20I side. The same side is more than likely to take on England too. India have two T20 warm-up games lined up in England and both the games will coincide with the Test. While the first game in on July 1, the second one is on July 3. This makes it pretty clear that the same players who will be in Ireland will be representing India in England too during the T20I series.

In that case, Pandya will be the captain against England too while Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be his deputy. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and several other big names will not be a part of the series.
