West Indies clinched a comfortable nine-wicket victory against India in the one-off T20I match on Sunday at Sabina Park (Kingston, Jamaica).

West Indies decided to field first after winning the toss. India managed to score 190/6 in 20 overs.

In reply, West Indies easily chased down the target in 18.3 overs thanks to Evin Lewis’ marvellous century. West Indies lost the only wicket as they won this game by 9 wickets.

West Indies – 194/1 in 18.3 overs (Evin Lewis 125*, Marlon Samuels 36*, Kuldeep Yadav 1/34)

  1. Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan scored 23 runs before getting run out. He is the second Indian batsman who was run out against West Indies in T20I history. MS Dhoni (29 runs) was the first Indian to be dismissed in the same fashion against West Indies in T20I (at Bridgetown on 9th May 2010)

 

  1. Indian batsman Dinesh Karthik scored 48 runs in this match. It is the highest individual T20I knock for an Indian batsman against West Indies on the Caribbean soil. The previous record holder was Subramaniam Badrinath with 43 runs knock (against West Indies at Port of Spain on 4th June 2011)

 

  1. India made 190/6 in 20 overs. It is the third highest T20I total for India against West Indies. The top two in this list are 244/4 (20 overs) at Lauderhill on 27th August 2016 and 192/2 (20 overs) at Mumbai on 31st March 2016.

Also, it (190/6) is second highest T20I total for India in their away games (home of opposition; excluding neutral venues). The highest in this list is 200/3 in 20 overs against Australia at Sydney on 31st January 2016.

 

  1. West Indian batsman Evin Lewis played a giant knock of unbeaten 125 runs off 61 balls. Here are some important stats of this knock:

i) It is his second T20I century and both against India. Lewis becomes the first batsman to score more than one T20I century against a particular team.

ii) Also, Lewis becomes the third batsman to score more than one T20I century. Chris Gayle (West Indies) and Brendon McCullum (New Zealand) are the other two batsmen who have hit 2 T20I centuries.

iii) It is the third highest knock in the T20I history. The top two in this list are 156 by Aaron Finch (Australia) against England at Southampton on 29th August 2013 and 145* by Glenn Maxwell (Australia) against Sri Lanka at Pallekele on 6th September 2016.

 

  1. West Indies won this match by 9 wickets. It is their largest T20I victory (by wickets).

 

  1. Meanwhile, India lost this game by 9 wickets which is their joint largest T20I defeat (by wickets). Before this match, India had also lost twice by 9 wickets and all against Australia (at Melbourne on 1st February 2008 and at Colombo, RPS on 28th September 2012)
