6/59 against Sri Lanka in Colombo, Indian Oil Cup Final 2005

India v New Zealand 2017: Five best moments of Ashish Nehra's career 1

Nehra remains the only Indian bowler to bag two six-wicket hauls in ODI cricket. The 2nd of his two six-wicket hauls came at Colombo in the final of the Indian Oil Cup against Sri Lanka. It was Nehra’s inspiring spell that was the bright spot for India in an otherwise uneven performance by the bowlers. Nehra bagged three crucial wickets in the first 13 overs in the form of Marvan Atapattu, pinch-hitter Dilhara Lokuhettige and Kumar Sangakkara as the Lankans were reduced to 67/3.

There was a huge partnership in the middle, and the Lankans were looking at a score well beyond the 300 mark, but it was Nehra who bagged three crucial wickets to restrict Sri Lanka to 281. He eventually finished with figures of 6/59 in his ten overs. Despite his brilliant spell, India couldn’t get over the line and surrendered the series to Sri Lanka by 18 runs.
