It was arguably the greatest ever spell bowled by an Indian pacer in limited overs cricket. After India had posted a decent 250 on the board, the onus was now on the bowlers to get the job done for India. After a brilliant run out by Mohammad Kaif, it was a sensational spell by Nehra which wrecked the English batting line-up, and they failed to recover from the collapse.

It was a sensational piece of swing bowling by Nehra, a spell that included the wickets of Michael Vaughan, Nasser Hussain and Alec Stewart. He was not 100& fit as he was vomiting in between due to illness but it was skipper Sourav Ganguly who had full faith in him and gave him the confidence to go all the way.

He also bagged the wickets of Paul Collingwood, Ronnie Irani and Craig White to finish with exceptional figures of 6/23. It remains the best bowling figures by an Indian pacer in ODI cricket.
