Australia decided to field first after winning the toss. The host side India scored 190/4 (20 overs) at the end of the first innings. In reply, Australia successfully chased down that target in 19.4 overs after losing three wickets. Australia won this T20I by seven wickets.

- Virat Kohli is the joint third most run-scorer in T20I history (Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik has also scored 2,263 T20I runs). The top two batsmen in this list are Rohit Sharma (India) with 2,331 T20I runs and Martin Guptill (New Zealand) with 2,272 T20I runs.

- It was the second worst bowling figures by an Indian spinner against Australia. The record is 4-0-55-0 by Krunal Pandya at Brisbane on 21 November 2018.

i) Australia won their second consecutive match in this T20I series.
- It is the first time when Australia beat India in two consecutive T20I matches in a series/tournament.
- It is the second time when Australia beat India in their two consecutive T20I meetings. Earlier from 2008 to 2012, Australia won three consecutive T20Is against India.
ii) Australia won the series by 2-0.
- It is the first time when Australia won a T20I bilateral series against India where more than one match has been played in the series.
