At stumps on day 4 of the second Test between India and England at Vishakhapatnam, India is looking for victory in this Test. India began the day on their overnight score of 98/3 and made 204 before they were bowled out. England needed 405 runs to win this Test.

His average in this Test is 62.00 which is the highest average by an Indian debutant Test cricketer who didn’t score 50+ runs in any innings of their debutant Test matches.

 

  1. At the beginning of the 4th inning, in this Test, English openers Alastair Cook and Haseeb Hameed put on a fighting 75-run partnership for the opening wicket. It was England’s 3rd highest opening partnership on the Indian soil in the fourth innings of a Test match.

 

  1. English openers Alastair Cook and Haseeb Hameed faced 302 balls in the 4th innings of this Test. It was the second highest no.of balls faced (since the no. of balls counted officially) by a foreign pair on Indian soil in the 4th innings of this Test. They were just behind New Zealand’s Matt Horne and Gary Stead’s 4th innings opening partnership, who had faced 327 deliveries at Ahmedabad in 1999.

 

  1. English opener and skipper Alastair Cook scored 54 runs in the 4th inning of this Test before getting out. It was the 4th highest runs knock by an English opener on Indian soil in the 4th inning of a Test match.

Also, Cook’s 54 runs knock was the 5th highest runs knock by an English captain on Indian soil in the 4th innings of a Test match.

 

  1. England opener Alastair cook faced 188 deliveries in the 4th innings of this Test. It was the highest no.of deliveries faced by an England batsman on the Indian soil in the 4th innings of a Test match. The previous record was 186 deliveries which had been faced by Mike Denness at Kolkata in 1972.
