Karun Nair earned his fame for scoring a triple-century during the Chennai Test against England in December 2016. It was only his third Test innings. However, in other Test innings, he even failed to reach the 30-run mark. The right-handed batsman played his last Test in March 2017 against Australia at Dharamsala. However, at present, he is in a brilliant form with the bat. In the Duleep Trophy 2019/20, Nair has scored 355 runs (average 177.50) for India Red before the final. During the round-robin stage of this tournament, Nair scored 99, 166* and 90 runs respectively. Surely, he can earn a call-up in the national squad after these shinning performances.

The Indian limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma hasn’t set his place in the Test cricket yet. After the Melbourne Test in last December, Rohit hasn’t played a Test match yet. Though he was in the Test squad during the last West Indies tour, the team management didn’t select him in the playing XI. However, he is in the top form in the limited-overs cricket and he can replace the out-of-form opener KL Rahul in the upcoming home Test series.
