Kuldeep Yadav bagged a five-wicket haul in the second essay as Windies as they face a heavy loss in the first Test against India at Rajkot.

Meanwhile, India rattled the visitors for a mere 181 in the first innings to take a lead of 435 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin bagged a four-wicket haul to clean up the tale in the morning session.

However, Windies started on a positive note in the second innings as Kriagg Braithwaite and Keiron Powell looked to dominate the proceedings. They went to lunch at 33 for one with Powell looking good against the Indian bowlers. Powell and Shai Hope provided some hope for the visitors as the duo helped them to pass the 50-run mark.

Kuldeep Yadav, who was silent in the first essay, started to weave his magic by trapping Hope in front. Once the gate opened, there was no stopping Indians. Keiron Powell, however, went from one end to bring his half-century playing some good looking shots. Kuldeep, who has smelled his prey continued with his job to send half of the pack back to the pavilion.

The young leg-spinner picked his first five-wicket haul in Tests to provide India with an edge in the opening Test. Powell, Windies’ only hope also departed after a well-made 83 off Kuldeep. Thus, he became the second Indian bowler to pick five-wickets haul in all the three formats.

With six already back in the hut, Keemo Paul wanted to have some taking on Ravindra Jadeja only to find Umesh Yadav at long on. When it looked like, Windies will go to tea with three wickets in hand, Ravichandran Ashwin struck for the second time in the innings to reduce the visitors for 185 for eight.

As a result, India needs only three wickets to go 1-0 up in the two-match Test series.
