India vs Windies 2018: 1st Test, Rajkot – Lunch Review

India vs Windies, 1st Test

Team India dominated the proceedings after an early loss in the morning session of day one of the 1st Test against Windies at Rajkot.

Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw made his debut as skipper Virat Kohli opted to bat first on a flat deck. India went with five specialist bowlers while Windies missed their strike bowler Kemar Roach.

The Caribbeans started the day on a high as Shanon Gabriel recked up some good pace with the new ball.  He soon got his reward as he got KL Rahul right in front with a full delivery that nipped back in. Although Rahul went for a review after much deliberation with Shaw, only to lose it early on.

Since then, Shaw and Cheteshwar Pujara batted cautiously as India scored 44 runs at the end of 10 overs. But soon Prithvi Shaw broke free to score few boundaries taking the attack to the opposition. He brought his fifty in style to become the youngest batsmen to score a half-century on debut for India.

India dominated the show as the Windies bowlers looked weak in front of the talented batters. Shaw smashed two boundaries against Chase as the host cruise past the 100-run mark. Both Pujara and Shaw look set for a big one.Soon after that, Pujara also raced passed his half-century off just 67 balls. He played an elegant looking straight drive past the bowler to bring up his fifty. Although he showed signs of real form but was overshadowed by young Prithvi Shaw.

As a result, India went to lunch at the score of 133 for 1 with Shaw and Pujara looking good for daddy hundreds.
