The talented young batsman from Mumbai, Prithvi Shaw makes his debut for India as they reopen their Test rivalry with Windies at Rajkot.
Meanwhile, Shaw, who was in the squad for the last two Tests against England but didn’t get a chance. However, it was long due after a string of consistent performances in the domestic circuit.
Prithvi Shaw’s selection at the top spot is not a hunch or a whimsy of the selectors, the youngster boasts of an incredible record that begs his inclusion. Shaw averages 56.72 in first-class cricket with seven centuries in just 14 matches.

The prolific run-scorer becomes the 293rd player to make his debut for India as he receives his Test cap from skipper Virat Kohli with a round of applause from his teammates. He also becomes the fourth youngest cricketer to make his debut for the country.
Virat Kohli, meanwhile, opted to bat first on a flat deck after winning the toss. He talked about piling up runs to put pressure on the visitors bring in three spinners late into the game. He also has the likes of Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav to work on the new ball and provide early breakthroughs.

However, the onus will be on the batsmen to provide a good show after a dismal tour of England. India have dominated proceeding on their home soil and they will look to continue working on that. All eyes will be on Prithvi Shaw on how he fairs in the first Test for India.
