The Team India selectors led by MSK Prasad on Sunday (July 21) had announced three different squads for the upcoming bilateral series against Windies. Interestingly, following a dismal show at the ICC World Cup 2019, the selectors had backed all-rounder Kedar Jadhav in the 15-man ODI squad.

Well, Virat Kohli will lead the Men in Blue across formats.

In the recently-held World Cup, Jadhav had featured in five matches. But, he managed 80 runs at an average of 40 with his strike-rate reading as 80.81.

Furthermore, the 34-year-old batting all-rounder Jadhav had bowled sparsely against Australia and Windies in Manchester. On June 22, 2019, Jadhav had managed to score 52 at the Southampton.

Jadhav, who made his international debut against Sri Lanka at Ranchi in November 2014, went on to feature in 65 ODIs. In 45 ODI innings, Jadhav has accumulated 1,254 runs at an average of 43.24.

In addition, he has two tons and six half-centuries to his name.

By going his batting record, it’s pretty decent than his bowling.

Besides, with his part-time bowling, Jadhav has snared 27 scalps in the 50-over format. But, his average exceeds over 35 in the day-long format.

Meanwhile, many expressed surprise on witnessing Jadhav in the ODI line-up for the Caribbean tour.

Furthermore, the Twitter users had taken a dig at BCCI‘s selection committee for relying on Jadhav.

So much so, many believe the board has not learnt a lesson following the shocking exit from the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand in Manchester.

Also, the bilateral series is comprised of three T20Is and as many T20Is apart from the two-match Test series.

Besides, the series will get underway with the first T20I at the Central Broward Regional Park, in Florida on August 3.

Moreover, the ODI series will kick off on August 8 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

The Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain will host the third and final ODI on August 14.
