Dinesh Karthik

The 35-year-old wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik made his international debut just a few months ahead of MS Dhoni’s international debut. He made ODI debut during the 2004 Lord’s ODI against England in September, while during the 2004 Mumbai Test against Australia in November, he made Test debut.
Like Harbhajan Singh and Dhoni, Karthik also appeared during India’s first T20I (against South Africa at Johannesburg on 1st December 2006). On his debutant T20I, Karthik won the Player of the Match award after scoring the match-winning 31 not out off 28 balls that helped the Indian team to chase down the 127 runs target in 19.5 overs after losing four wickets.
Karthik is still very much active in cricket. Till the date, his last international match was also Dhoni’s last international match – against New Zealand at Manchester on 9th-10th July 2019 (semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019).
Karthik has played 26 Tests, 94 ODIs and 32 T20Is where the right-handed batsman has scored 1025 runs (average 25.00), 1752 runs (average 30.20) and 399 runs (average 33.25). He was a member during India’s victory in the ICC World T20 2007 and ICC Champions Trophy 2013.
In the IPL 2020, Karthik will continue to lead the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
