Sunil Gavaskar – 101st innings
The former Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar was another legendary cricketer in the international cricket history who dominated the cricket world with his bat. He was a member during India’s first Cricket World Cup victory in the 1983 edition.
Though Gavaskar made his ODI debut in 1974, he didn’t manage to reach the three-figure mark even after completing 100 ODI innings. However, after his 100 ODI innings, the right-handed batsman hit 27 half-centuries, including three nervous nineties.
Finally, during his 101st ODI innings, which was against New Zealand at Nagpur on 31st October 1987 (in the World Cup 1987), Gavaskar hit his only ODI century, which was the match-winning 103 not out. After that game, he played only one more ODI match where he scored just four runs (against England at Mumbai on 5th November 1987 in the semi-final of the World Cup 1987).
