The legendary Caribbean left-handed batsman Brian Lara was the master to play big scores in any format. His patience level was incredible, and similarly, he can smash the confidence of the opposition side with his aggressive batting.

Lara is not only holding the record of the highest individual score in the first-class cricket history (501*), but he also recorded the highest individual score in the Test cricket for twice. At first, in April 1994, Lara scored 375 runs against England at St John’s, which was later broken by the former Aussie opener Matthew Hayden (380 runs) in October 2003.

However, later, in April 2003, Lara became the first batsman to score 400 runs in Test innings (against England at St John’s) as he remained not out on 400 runs. Since then, we have experienced some 300+ Test scores, but only one of those managed to reach the 350-run mark (Mahela Jayawardene 374 against South Africa at Colombo, SSC in July 2006). It is truly tough to break the record of 400 Test runs.
