While international cricket started in 1877, India started its international cricket journey in 1932. The Indian team took time to become a competitive side, but they always focused on the gradual improvement, which slowly but effectively helped the Indian team.
With the time progress, India have proved themselves by winning the matches, series and tournaments along with maintaining their success in international cricket. Apart from many big trophies, India also won the 1983 Cricket World Cup, ICC World T20 2007, ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 etc. These successes happened due to the consistent presence of highly talented Indian cricketers.

Most international matches
The legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is holding the record of appearing in the most number of international matches. Serving for the Indian national cricket team between 1989 and 2013, Tendulkar played 200 Tests, 463 ODIs and only T20I as he played a total of 664 international matches. Apart from holding the record of playing most international matches, Tendulkar is also holding the record of playing most Test as well as ODI matches.
Former Sri Lankan cricketer Mahela Jayawardene is the only other player to make 600+ appearances in the international career as he played 652 international matches between 1997 and 2015. He is also in the second position in the list of appearing in most ODIs as he played 448 ODIs.
On the other hand, former Australian cricketers Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh are jointly in the second position in the list of playing most Test matches as both played 168 Tests.
