Highest individual ODI score

On 13th November 2014, during the Kolkata ODI against Sri Lanka, Indian opener Rohit Sharma batted extraordinarily and scored 264 runs off 173 balls (33 fours and 9 sixes) that helped the Indian team to score 404/5 (50 overs). Till the date, it is the only 250+ score by a batsman in an ODI innings.
Before that record, another Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag was holding the record of the highest individual score in an ODI innings. Playing as a captain in the 2011 Indore ODI against West Indies, Sehwag scored 219 runs off 149 balls (25 fours and 7 sixes). It is still the highest individual score in an ODI innings by any captain.
However, the present second-highest individual score in an ODI innings is 237 not out by the New Zealand opener Martin Guptill against West Indies at Wellington in the quarter-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
