Best bowling performance in a match during Test debut
Former Indian leg-spinner Narendra Hirwani made his international debut during the Chennai Test against England in January 1988. While India won that match by 255 runs, the leggie had the match bowling figures of 33.5-6-136-16 (18.3-3-61-8 & 15.2-3-75-8).
Former Australian right-arm pacer Bob Massie was the only other bowler who managed to pick up more than 12 wickets in the Test debut match. He was the first bowler to pick up 16 wickets on Test debut as he had the match bowling figures of 60.1-16- 137-16 (against England at Lord’s in June 1972).
