Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) met Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Mohali on Sunday afternoon. After winning the toss, KXIP decided to bat first on their home ground. KXIP made 179/4 in 20 overs with the help of opener Hashim Amla’s brilliant 96 runs. In reply, SRH successfully reached that target with 2 balls to spare after losing 3 wickets. - KXIP opener Hashim Amla scored 96 runs in this match. It was his second 90s score in his T20 career. Amla’s best T20 score was unbeaten 97 against Australia at Cape Town on 9th March 2016.
- SRH player David Warner took 2 catches in this match which made 19 catches for him in IPL history for SRH. Currently, he is the highest catch takers as a non-wicket-keeper for SRH in IPL history after surpassing his fellow opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan (17 catches).
- SRH opening batsmen Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner completed 1400 runs partnership between them in the IPL history. It is the first time that any opening partnership crossed 1400 runs in the IPL history. Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) opening pair Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa is in the second position in the most runs scored by an opening pair with 1393 runs.
- In this match, David Warner (52 runs) scored his 6th half-century in the IPL 2016 and became third batsmen to hit more than 5 half-centuries in IPL 2016 after Virat Kohli (7) and Ajinkya Rahane (6). It is the first ever that minimum 3 batsmen scored more than 5 half-centuries in an IPL season.
- SRH successfully chased the total 180 runs in this match. It was their second best successful chasing in IPL history. Their highest chased was 186 runs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Ranchi in 2014.
