IPL 2018: 48th Match, Kings XI Punjab vs Royal Challengers Bangalore – Preview
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will travel to Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) backyard for the 48th match of the Indian Premier League 2018. The Virat Kohli-led team had won their previous match against Delhi Daredevils (DD) by five wickets.
Consequently, the Men in Red had kept themselves breathing in the tournament.
On the other hand, Kings XI has lost their last two matches and thus they have veered off the track. Ravichandran Ashwin-led team has won six matches out of the eleven they have played. Hence, they find themselves at the third position in points table.
As the battle for the playoffs is getting intense in the final stages of the league matches, both teams will like to bring their A-game to the table. Meanwhile, Kohli and AB de Villiers brought out their magnum opus in the last match against Delhi at Feroz Shah Kotla.
It was the need of an hour that RCB linchpins bring their best game in a do or die situation and both Virat and de Villiers were up to the challenge.
However, others must take confidence from the performance of these two players and try to play a crucial role.
For the Kings XI, KL Rahul is battling a lone battle in the batting department. The flamboyant opener has lagged support from the other end and it is time that middle order steps up to the success of the team.
Chris Gayle has not been able to repeat his performances and Punjab think tank will hope that the Windies batsman gives his best. As far as the team combination is concerned, Ankit Rajpoot is expected to replace Barinder Sran, who was expensive in the last match.
On the other hand, Royal Challengers are getting caught in the dilemma of their bowling line-up. Men in Red bowling battery hasn’t able to deliver the goods in a nutshell.
Kohli will like his bowlers to hit the bullseye as there is no scope of a second chance. He is expected to not alter his playing XI but he can ponder to include Manan Vohra in place of Sarfaraz Khan.
The last match in Indore saw 459 runs being scored. It was a bowlers nightmare and the batsmen’s paradise. We can expect a similar track and thus the batsmen would be licking their lips.
The temperature is going to be around 38-degree Celsius as another hot day will greet the players. However, the night game will provide some respite for the players. The Rains gods are not expected to play a killjoy.
Kings XI leads Royal Challengers in the head-to-head battle. The hosts have won twelve matches whereas, the tourists have won nine.
