Though Gill didn’t score too many runs in the tournament, he made an impact which the cricketing world took a notice of. In the limited opportunities he got, Gill looked in complete control of proceedings and never looked in any discomfort whatsoever facing the world-class bowlers. Even in the eliminator against the Rajasthan Royals, he provided the much-needed impetus in the middle overs with a quickfire 16 balls 28. Even in the Qualifier 2, he was the last hope for Kolkata. He kept them in the game scoring 30. However, the target proved to be way too much in the end. Gill scored 203 runs in 13 matches at an average of 33.83 and the best score of an unbeaten 57.
