Kolkata Knight Riders are currently hosting the Delhi Daredevils, and the hosts were sent into bat first by former KKR captain, Gautam Gambhir.
However, KKR have set up a comfortable total for themselves and have given their bowlers a huge total to defend, as they finished their 20 overs on 200/9.
The KKR batsmen started well, and almost all them contributed to the team’s total big six in cricket
KKR’s middle order made the most of the opportunity with Nitish Rana and Andre Russell hammering the bowlers all around the park.
Russell continued his good form with the bat scoring 41 off just 12 deliveries and looked on course to smash KL Rahul’s record for hitting the fastest half-century in the IPL.
However, he got bamboozled by a Trent Boult yorker.
Despite his great six hitting strength, the right-handed batsman has rated Chris Gayle as a bigger hitter of the ball.
In a mid-innings interview, Russell also added he loves the big stage and is currently enjoying the moment,
“I love the big stage; I am enjoying the moment, this is what cricket is all about. The mindset was to give myself a chance, try and get in, take a couple of balls to settle. This is a very good wicket; we need to make sure that there’s no repeat of the Chennai game, need to make sure we are as tight as possible.”
Talking about the comparison between him and Chris Gayle, the all-rounder said,
“It’s tight at the moment (on whether he or Gayle is the bigger hitter), he’s the Universal boss (Gayle), so I give it to him, he has the Midas touch. 200 on the board, any bowler, would like to see so many runs on the board. What happened against CSK is beyond us now, we just had a chat and will try our best not to repeat that.”
Kolkata Knight Riders registered a comfortable win by 71 runs against Delhi Daredevils.
