Amidst the speculations about the IPL future of Steven Smith and David Warner, BCCI official has said that the board will have no option but to ban them from IPL if Cricket Australia hands them a ban,
“To be honest, I don’t understand what all the cry is about. If the CA goes ahead and bans them, there is no way that the IPL franchises can accommodate them, just like Andre Russell had to skip the IPL after he was caught violating doping clauses,” a BCCI official told Cricketnext.
If CA says that they have decided to ban the two players, that is where it all ends for them as far as IPL 11 is concerned. The IPL GC actually has no role,” he added.

However, it is to be noted that it will be the clause attached by Cricket Australia which will have an impact on IPL future of these two players.
If CA attaches a clause which bars them from playing in any T20 league, they will automatically be out of IPL.
However, if the clause is not attached, they will be eligible to play the league.
In that case, the ball will be in BCCI’s court whether to allow their participation in IPL or not?
In Andre Russell’s case, he was banned from all forms of cricket and was not allowed even to play domestic cricket.

Smith’s and Warner’s case is different to Russell’s one.
Also, Cricket Australia also has a different set of rules.
Should the be cleared to play the T20 league, it will be interesting to see the next step of BCCI.
The decision taken by BCCI will draw more limelight than that of Cricket Australia on the future of these two players.
CA will again address a press conference today where James Sutherland, CEO, will announce the verdict.
As of now, these three players are suspended.
They will fly back home today (March 28).
The punishment for the players will be announced today (March 28).
Reports claim that Smith, Warner, and Cameron Bancroft are likely to be banned for one year.
It will rule them out of Australia’ international fixtures for next one year.
As said, the IPL future of Smith and Warner will only be decided by CA.
If they attach a clause to bar them from playing IPL, BCCI will have no role to play whatsoever.
