Delhi Daredevils (DD) batsman Shreyas Iyer credited his bowlers for pulling things back as this edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) saw yet another last-over thriller and this time Mumbai Indians (MI) was at the receiving end of the pulsating action.

The Mumbai side has no one to blame other than themselves for their third consecutive loss. Playing on their home ground, Mumbai were off to a flying start courtesy Evil Lewis (48) and Surya Kumar Yadav (53).

The duo added 102 runs in the 54 deliveries to set the launchpad for the batters to come.

However, MI managed to post only 194 despite 23-ball 44 from the Ishan Kishan.

The Daredevils bowlers made an amazing comeback in a flat deck to restrict the opposition within 200. Although 194 is not a below-par total, it was a bit less.

Post the game, players from both the sides admitted that they were 20 runs short.

Obviously, we were expecting around 220 but the bowlers restricted them well in the middle and we really bowled well in patches. The comeback was amazing by the bowlers and hopefully, we keep continuing doing the same things,” Shreyas said.

Meanwhile, Delhi chased down the target in style banking on Jason Roy’s unbeaten knock of 91. Rishabh Pant (47) also provided a good support to Roy.

Although Iyer scored a modest 27 off 20 balls but most importantly held the fort at one end as Roy took the visitors home.

Moreover, Iyer expressed his delight with his team’s first win of the season.

Obviously (we’re) feeling phenomenal at the moment. We were waiting for this win, and especially against Mumbai Indians, it’s a great comeback from the team. Every one of us wanted to win this game,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Delhi will want to take the winning momentum in the next game and continue their winning run.

They will square off against Kolkata Knight Riders tomorrow at the Eden Gardens.
