ToggleChennai Super Kings player, Faf Du Plessis, is in doubt to participate in IPL. As per reports, he is suffering from a finger injury, which can see him missing the IPL.
Though, chances of him being fit for the tournament are likely.
Plessis suffered a finger injury during the first One-day International of the six-match series against India, in which he scored a century. He went onto miss rest of five ODIs and three T20Is later.
Plessis was declared fit and he participated in the four-Test match series against Australia. He also scored a century in the fourth Test to find form following of late blips.
South Africa won the four-match series by a margin of 3-1. There is no official update on the fitness of Plessis yet.
The South African captain du Plessis was retained by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL auction for an amount of INR 1.60 crore.
The franchise using its Right to Match (RTM) card on him. It hasn’t come as a surprise though.
Dwayne Bravo was the second player for whom CSK used their RTM card.
If fit, Plessis will join the team on Thursday (April 5). Along with him, young paceman Lungi Ngidi will also join CSK camp.
Other South African and Australian players will also be on the same flight to India – to participate in IPL.
Chennai Super Kings side is ready to kick off their IPL campaign against champions Mumbai Indians on April 7 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Before the start of the game, an opening ceremony will also take place at the same venue. Super Kings are making a comeback in IPL after a period of the two-year gap.
The franchise, along with Rajasthan Royals, was banned for ninth edition and edition of the league respectively. This saw the two teams missing the ninth and tenth edition of IPL.
