IPL 2018: IPL’s Best XI in April

The Indian Premier League (IPL) of 2018 has reached only mid-way and viewers already have been treated with an action-packed three weeks.

This IPL, we have seen legends of the format bringing back time to register a big statement and also unearthed few raw talents for the future.

Here’s a look at the best XI of IPL until mid-way this season:

KL Rahul:

Indian international KL Rahul has been fluent this season, after being bought for a record price of INR 11 crore by Kings XI Punjab.

Karnataka’s premier batter, Rahul, scored the quickest fifty in the IPL this season, in the opening game against Delhi Daredevils.

The right-handed batter then followed it up with yet another Man of the Match performance against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Although he has remained quiet ever since a big one is always round the corner with the form he has displayed.

Shane Watson:

In the twilight of his career, displayed that he still is amongst the best all-rounders in the world, even with age catching up to him.

Watson turned out to be a revelation in the tournament with both bat and ball. Watto already has a century to his name apart from the two half-centuries.

The Aussie provides immense balance to the team with his economical four overs and tendency to chip in with a couple of wickets.

Virat Kohli:

One of the greatest travesties this season is the Virat Kohli‘s valiant knocks unable to help his team to win matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Kohli registered three half-centuries already in the season and one has a feeling that there are many more to come.

Kane Williamson:

Sunrisers captain, Kane Williamson, hasn’t made the absence of David Warner being felt at the camp, with his captaincy or batting.

The knock against CSK at home was easily one of the best in the tournament in a losing cause.

Much like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers‘ brilliance has been eclipsed by RCB’s poor bowling efforts.

ABD took his side to victory with a couple of blistering half centuries.

De Villiers also hit the longest hit of the tournament so far, where he smashed a 111-m long hit which went outside Chinnaswamy on the bowling of his countryman Imran Tahir.

Ambati Rayudu:

Ambati Rayudu has scored heaps of runs batting at the opening slot or at the middle order, to display his flexibility.

The former Mumbai Indians’ batter has found solace while donning the yellow jersey of CSK, under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

His knocks against Sunrisers and RCB were the standout ones. Rayudu always has been in the race for the Orange Cap.

MS Dhoni:

Carrying on from the theme of the tournament, Olden is Golden, Mahendra Singh Dhoni brought back time to play some of his vintage knocks fans were used to during his prime.

Dhoni’s blistering knocks against RCB and Delhi Daredevils overawed his army of fans.

Coming in at the number five, Dhoni is still on the race for the Orange Cap which is an exceptional feat.

Trent Boult:

Trent Boult is the best bowler in the Delhi Daredevils camp this season who has been brilliant this season in the powerplays as well as at the death, barring a few outings where he was taken for plenty.

Additionally, Boult is in the race for the Purple Cap along with the likes of Mayank Markande (MI) and Siddarth Kaul (SRH).

Shivam Mavi:

The Under-19 sensation made a place in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team following his brisk pace and ability to take wickets upfront.

Also, his performances only show that India’s bowling department is in safe hands.

Mayank Markande:

Mumbai Indians‘ find of the concurrent season, Mayank Markande has turned out to be a permanent Purple Cap holder.

Also, his impressive spells helped him to obtain the reputation of being a giant killer.

Siddharth Kaul:

SRH’s death specialist Siddharth Kaul has come of his own this season, coming out of the shadows of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Interestingly, Kaul also clocked a speed of 148 kph this season which is commendable as he was primarily regarded as a swing bowler.
