Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) star bowler Kamlesh Nagarkoti will miss this ongoing eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to an injury.

Meanwhile, Kolkata has roped in Karnataka fast bowler Prasidh Krishna as his replacement. Krishna has represented Karnataka and this will be his first stint in the cash-rich IPL.

Unconfirmed reports on Nagarkoti’s injury had begun to do the rounds on Friday (April 13) itself. Meanwhile, this is the second fast bowler Kolkata-based outfit Knight Riders has lost this season after Australian speedster Mitchell Starc.

Prior to this league, the left-arm paceman Starc pulled out due to a calf injury. England’s Tom Curran replaced him in the squad.

However, this will come as a big blow for the Knight Riders team management. They have struggled in this area as recently failed to defend 17 runs off the last over against Chennai.

Now, Nagarkoti’s injury will worsen the situation for the Kolkata based team.

The Knight Riders roped Nagarkoti at the mega auctions for a whopping sum of Rs 3.2 crores. The young fast bowler Nagarkoti impressed everybody with his brisk pace and wicket-taking abilities.

The 18-year-old Nagarkoti came into the spotlight during his stint with India Under-19, for the 2018 World Cup In New Zealand.

Further, he was in line to replace Vinay Kumar in the first XI after the latter went for too many with the ball.

Meanwhile, Krishna has played 19 List A games claiming 33 wickets at an economy rate of under 5. He made his first-class debut for Karnataka in 2015, picking up a five-for against the touring Bangladesh A team in Mysore.

However, It will be a great opportunity for the young pacer like Kamlesh Nagarkoti to make a mark on this big stage.

After making his List A debut at Chennai, Nagarkot featured in eight matches in which he bagged nine wickets at an average of 27.33.

KKR will play their next game later today against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens.
