Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) opener, Aaron Finch is going through a lean patch in the Indian Premier League (IPL), as he is yet to open his account so far playing two games.
Keeping his poor form aside, Finch has achieved a new feat in the IPL. By taking the field for Punjab this season, he has become the first player to represent seven different teams in the league.
Before this, he had represented Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Daredevils, Pune Warriors, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Lions in the past.
“It’s a little bit embarrassing, to be honest,” cricket.com.au quotes Finch. “Two of the teams that I played for – one was Rajasthan that I came in as a replacement player and only played the last game of the tournament. The other was Pune (and) the year after I captained, they folded. I suppose you could almost take two of them out. It’s still seven – it’s a lot isn’t it,” he added.
It’s a great bunch of guys
Finch, who missed the first game of the season due to his wedding in Victoria is happy with the team. He also admitted the atmosphere around the squad is very good.
“At the start of the tournament, everyone is always really excited to start off and get up and running. It’s a great bunch of guys, led by ‘Hodgey’ as the coach and (Ravi) Ashwin who’s the captain, who’s played so much Test cricket,” Finch said.
Meanwhile, Finch is in line to become Australia’s next limited-overs skipper, as Steven Smith will not take the field for a year.
Moreover, Punjab will face an unbeaten Sunrisers Hyderabad in Mohali on Thursday.
