Plunkett went unsold in the IPL auction as his name did not even come up for the auction. No franchise showed interest in him.

Though, Plunkett drew the interest of Delhi Daredevils after Rabada nursed an injury. He is suffering from lower back stress problem.

Speedster Rabada played a major role in the Test series against Australia for the Proteas.

Meanwhile, Delhi Daredevils are all set to face Rajasthan in their second contest of the season on Wednesday night.

The Gautam Gambhir-led team lost its first game to Kings XI Punjab which turned out to be a one-sided affair.

Delhi Daredevils posted a decent total of 166 on the board with Gambhir himself scoring 55 runs.

Kings XI Punjab took the game away in the starting overs with KL Rahul hammering fastest-ever half-century in the history of IPL.

His half-century came from just 14 balls. The aggressive batsman Rahul played an innings of 51 off just 16 with included four sixes and six fours.

Delhi Daredevils will be looking to turn the fortunes in this contest with Liam Plunkett strengthening the bench.

On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals will also look to be back on the winning track. They lost their one-sided affair to Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 9 in an away game.

They do have an advantage of home conditions in this game, a factor which they would look to cash on.

Delhi Daredevils squad: Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Chris Morris, Glenn Maxwell, Kagiso Rabada, Amit Mishra, Shahbaz Nadeem, Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tewatia, Mohammad Shami, Gautam Gambhir, Trent Boult, Colin Munro, Daniel Christian, Jason Roy, Naman Ojha, Prithvi Shaw, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Avesh Khan, Abhishek Sharma, Jayant Yadav, Harshal Patel, Manjot Kalra, Sandeep Lamichhane, Sayan Ghosh.
