Kolkata Knight Riders routed Delhi Daredevils by 71 runs to get back to winning ways. The Knight Riders had entered the game after suffering two consecutive defeats. However, they were quick to put the defeats and put up a commendable effort to dismantle Delhi.

Sent in to bat first, the hosts posted a daunting 200 for 9 in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Delhi kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. They never looked in contention and were eventually out for 129.

With the game now done and dusted, here is a look at some interesting numbers:

1. Trent Boult bowled the first maiden over of this IPL. The New Zealand star did not concede any run in the first over of the game.

2. Andre Russell‘s 12-ball 41 runs knock was studded with six sixes. And all those sixes came off Mohammed Shami‘s bowling. This is only the third instance of a player hitting six sixes against a bowler in an IPL game. Russell hit six sixes off Dwayne Bravo against Chennai Super Kings earlier this season while Virat Kohli hit six sixes against Gujarat Lion’s KC Cariappa in 2016.

3. Kolkata Knight Riders hit 15 sixes during the game. This is their second-best sixes tally in an IPL game. The best is the 17 sixes they hit against Chennai Super Kings. The game also witnessed the first instance of a team hitting 15 sixes in a T20 innings at the Eden Gardens.

4. Sunil Narine became the first overseas spinner to take 100 wickets in IPL.

6. Kolkata Knight Riders’ total of 200 for 9 is their joint highest total at the Eden Gardens. They made 200/3 in 2010 season against Kings XI Punjab but had gone on to lose the game.

7.  Andre Russell scored his 41 runs at a strike -rate of 341.67. It is the highest for a Knight Riders player in an IPL inning. This is also the fourth highest strike-rate for any player in an IPL inning. (Minimum 40 runs)
