Here is what the captains said:
“We are going to bowl. It won’t change much and I think dew will play a big role later on. We had just a few practise sessions here and aren’t sure of how the surface will play. We have two forced changes – Chris Morris is out injured and so is Jason Roy. We have Dan Christian coming in and Liam Plunkett as well.”
“We aren’t sure to be honest of how the surface will behave. Our first time here and it’s quite tough to decide. Chris Gayle goes out and Aaron Finch comes in. The big man is a bit sore and it gives Aaron up the order a bit of a chance. Have to see how it goes in the game.”
The upcoming game will pit two teams who are lying on the either side of the spectrum in the league. While Kings XI Punjab are second in the table, trailing toppers Chennai Super Kings just on net run-rate, Delhi Daredevils are languishing at the bottom after managing just one win in five games.
Before the start of the tournament, everything looked perfect for Delhi. In Gautam Gambhir, they have a captain who knows what it takes to succeed in the league. In the likes of Jason Roy, Colin Munro, Rishabh Pant, Glenn Maxwell, Trent Boult, Chris Morris, they have some of the most sought after cricketers in their side. However, things are just not falling in place for them at the moment.
On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab are flying at the moment. With 4 wins in five games including the one against Daredevils earlier this season, they are looking totally unstoppable at the moment. The inclusion of Chris Gayle have transformed them into a force to reckon with.
So while Kings XI will be keen to continue their winning run, Delhi will be desperate to take all the maximum points in order to keep pace with the other teams.
