IPL 2018: Match 9, Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Daredevils – Twitter Reactions
Dec 23, 2018 at 4:20 PM
Bouncing back strongly from the defeats in the first two games, Mumbai Indians posted a daunting 194 for 7 against Delhi Daredevils.
Sent in to bat first, Mumbai Indians were off to a flyer. Promoted Suryakumar Yadav and Evin Lewis came out all guns blazing against a hapless Delhi Daredevils attack. They fired on all cylinders right from the start as Mumbai reached 50 in just the fourth over. At the end of the powerplay, the scoreboard was reading a daunting 84 for no loss.
Even after the end of the powerplay, the duo kept on playing the big shots at will. As a result, it took Mumbai only 8.3 overs to enter triple figures. Lewis brought his team’s 100 with his fourth six of the evening off Rahul Tewatia. However, in the very same, he miscued one to depart for 48 off 28. Yadav soon brought up his fifty but could convert it into a big one, departing for 53.
Tewatia and Glenn Maxwell helped Delhi to put a brake on the run-rate for a while before Ishan Kishan hit the former for two sixes in an over to give Mumbai the momentum back. Dan Christian then pulled back things by taking two wickets off consecutive balls. He first castled the dangerous Kishan (44 off 22) before cleaning up Kieron Pollard. Rohit Sharma‘s poor IPL continued as the skipper departed for 18 off 15. The wicket saw Mumbai being reduced to 179 for 5 from 166 for two. They kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and as a result failed to end strongly.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the innings:

Good period for Delhi bowlers when they didn’t concede a single boundary. Largely due to strategic time out…
