Rajasthan Royals‘ campaign has not had the ideal start before the season. Injuries have hampered the team, along with the ban on their skipper Steven Smith.

The likes of Dushmantha Chameera is yet to join the squad. But Afghan bowler Zahir Khan was injured and was ruled out of entire IPL 2018.

New Zealand wrist spinner Ish Sodhi has been revealed as the replacement for injured Zahir Khan by Rajasthan Royals. The Kiwi spinner is one of the best spinners in T20 international cricket.

IPL 2018: New Zealand Spinner Ish Sodhi 'Can't Wait' to be Part of Rajasthan Royals 1

It will be the first IPL season for Ish Sodhi. He had not been part of the cash-rich league yet and will look to demonstrate his skills if given a chance.

“Can’t wait to be part of the #RoyalFamily – see you all soon and all the best to the boys in game 2! #JazbaJeetKa #AbBajegaDanka #PadhaaroSa #HallaBol #ipl2018”, Ish Sodhi tweeted.

With Ish Sodhi into the mix, New Zealand is also represented by numerous players across the franchises this year. Kane Williamson, Brendon McCullum, Tim Southee, Mitchell McClenaghan, Trent Boult are all playing in IPL 2018.

Sodhi has been a key figure for New Zealand across all the formats. He was picked from the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP) list, which contains the names of all available players who can be used as replacements in case of injuries.

On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals had bounced back in IPL 2018 with a win. The hosts crunched Delhi Daredevils in the rain-curtailed match. The tight bowling from Rajasthan bowlers meant Delhi were ten runs short of revised target in six over innings.

The win is particularly impressive, considering the way they were entirely outdone by Sunrisers early this week. Ajinkya Rahane & co, will next face Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chinna Swamy Stadium on Sunday.
