Delhi Daredevils’ (DD) all-rounder Shahbaz Nadeem feels team coach Ricky Ponting has brought in a positive attitude among the cricketers in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
Meanwhile, the Daredevils has had the worst start to this year’s IPL losing the first two games.
However, on the eve of the clash against Mumbai Indians (MI), Nadeem had admitted Ponting has a very positive approach towards everything.
“His only mantra is to win. He does not believe in how you play or what you do. At the end of the day, the results should be positive; he is here to win the championship, and that’s what he tells us every day, and we have to believe in him, and he comes with a positive attitude, it is helping us a lot,” Nadeem told reporters.
The experienced Nadeem also feels spinners are playing a major role in this format of the game.
Nadeem, who bowled in the powerplays picked two important wickets against Rajasthan Royals. He also believes spinners need to take the onus and contain runs in the middle-overs.
“From the last two-three years, spinners are doing well in T20 format. They come after six overs and bowl till 15th over. The maximum time you will see that if spinners take two-three wickets in the middle period, they are doing an exceptional job for the team,” he added.
However, Delhi will look to storm back to winning ways when they face MI later on Saturday at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
So far, Nadeem had played 56 matches in IPL scoring picking 39 wickets at an economy rate of 7.13.
