Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman, AB de Villiers has showered heaps of praise on young Rajasthan Royals (RR) batsman, Sanju Samson, whose brilliantly made 92 took the game away from RCB.
This edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has started in a great fashion. Many cricketers have already made a long lasting impression in the early days of the tournament.
One such name is Samson, who has made it a habit of scoring runs batting at one drop. Samson had looked in great touch and had provided the team with valuable runs at a good strike rate.
He has amassed scores of 49, 37, and 92*, respectively so far in the three games.
Samson played a special innings
The stylish right-handed hammered a 45-ball 92 to take his team’s total over 200. It proved too much for RCB, as they fell to cross the target.
“Sunday’s defeat at home to RR was disappointing because, in so many ways, we weren’t far away from where we needed to be. The match probably turned when they scored 85 runs from their last four overs, and it was a pity that we bowled two no-balls and both the free hits were sent into the stands for six; these are the details that matter,” de Villiers wrote on TOI.
De Villiers also maintained it was a special knock from the young talent. He also added there is no limit to his potential.
“Sanju Samson played a special inning for RR. I have stayed in contact with him by email for a few years now, and it is great to see an exciting young talent emerging in Indian cricket. How far can he go in the game? Believe me; there is no limit to his potential,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Bangalore side had found it hard to establish their dominance in the IPL. They have only won one game out of three. However, they will look to turn things when they face Mumbai Indians later today (Tuesday) at Wankhede.
