IPL 2018: We Need to Keep Our Heads High, Says Rohit Sharma

First, 10 overs 87 for no loss and the next 10 over 82 for six; that has been the story of Mumbai Indians in the batting department. The batting display itself took away the confidence of Rohit Sharma and his men even before taking the field during second innings. Though Jasprit Bumrah bowled a cracking first over, it was always Rajasthan Royals who were at the top of the game.

Today was another game we didn’t finish well: Rohit Sharma

Speaking of the match, the Indians’ skipper, Rohit Sharma doesn’t want to be too harsh on themselves. He added that they had played a good cricket but the game against Rajasthan is one more day when they failed as a unit.

Rohit cited that there have been few areas that need to be sorted out.

”On a pitch like that, we should have scored 15-20 runs more. In the games that we lost in the past, we didn’t finish well with the bat. Today was another game we didn’t finish well, but I don’t want to be too harsh because we have been playing good cricket. We need to work on a few areas,” Rohit quoted while speaking in the post-match presentation.

The disappointed skipper Rohit added that they need to keep their head high and finish the remaining games successfully.

Terming on the defence, Rohit quoted that Wankhede wicket is always tough to defend but he doesn’t want to make it as an excuse. He concluded it by showering his words of praise on Buttler.

”We need to keep our heads high and hope for two good games. It’s not going to be easy defending whatever target is set, but that’s not an excuse for us. We have played enough cricket to understand the conditions here. He (Buttler) has been in great form. He didn’t give us any chances,” Rohit added to his lines.

However, the loss against Rajasthan shrank Mumbai’s chances to playoffs berth.

Now, they join Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in hope of other scenarios going in their way provided they finish their remaining games on a winning note including a healthy Net Run-Rate.

Coming to the future assignments of Mumbai, they will be taking on Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Delhi Daredevils (DD) in their last two games.

The matches are scheduled to play on 16th and 20th of May respectively.

On 16th of this month (May), KXIP will head to Wankhede while on 20th, Indians will make a move to Delhi, as Rohit Sharma will be aiming to spring a surprise or so.
