Former Indian all-rounder Ajit Agarkar believes Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) star all-rounder Yuvraj Singh needs to score runs – to keep his spot in the first XI otherwise it is getting close to him.
Meanwhile, Punjab roped in the star all-rounder for INR 2 crore at the two-day mega-auction earlier this year.
However, Yuvraj is yet to live up to the expectations pinned on him by the management.
In the first game against Delhi Daredevils (DD), the southpaw went to bat when the team was at 58 for one.
Moreover, he managed to score only 12 runs before giving Vijay Shankar a catch off Rahul Tewatia.

In his second outing against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Yuvraj managed to register only four runs on a good batting deck. Umesh Yadav cleaned him up with a perfect ripper.
In the wake of his poor run, people have already speculations about his spot in the team. This has propelled Agarkar to think and he believes the time is running out for the left-hander.
Meanwhile, Punjab has quality Indian players in the side to replace him, who is waiting for an opportunity.
“Even in the first game where there was little pressure, he didn’t look fluent enough. In the second game, Umesh (Yadav) worked him over a bit. Do you leave someone out after two games the one you’ve started the tournament with especially after you have had one victory out of those two not really sure but I think it is getting close,” Agarkar said while talking on ESPNCricinfo ahead of Kings XI’s game against Chennai Super Kings.

He also feels the team will want to have a strong middle-order, who can rise up in case the top-order fails.
“Ashwin would really be thinking about that slot because you don’t want to put too much pressure on the middle order if your top order doesn’t do well you want someone in the middle order who can who is in good form. It is getting close he needs some runs,” Agarkar concluded.
Meanwhile, KXIP will square off against Chennai Super Kings later today at Mohali.
